CONTACT WITH ROSCRUCIANISM

I came in contact with Roscrucian philosophy in 1984 when I began my Masters programme at the University of Lagos.

As I was watching television in my hostel common room one evening, I saw a yellow two-page paper on a chair not far away from me. I picked the paper up and read the content; it was a discussion about how to keep healthy. Another day while I went to the common room to listen to the 7 o’clock evening news I saw another yellow two-page paper which this time discussed not health but financial management and financial prudence.

I was both captivated and impressed by the unusual and unacademic manner these two topics were discussed. I sought to know the source of the write-ups and discovered that they were written by Rosicrucians whose address at the time was said to be at San Jose, USA.

A few days later, I sent a letter to the address with the view to knowing a little more about the mission of the Rosicrucians and with the view to joining them in their work. I did not wait for long before in March 1984, I was sent my first home study material and I was formally admitted into the Rosicrucian Order AMORC.
